On Sunday May 3 100 passengers joined us for the maiden voyage of HMS TEDxDocklands. We set course, third star to the right, on an epic journey of discovery and wonder.

Jeff Below at TEDxDocklands 2015Jeff Bollow believes exercising imagination is the key to humanity's survival. He does so through screenwriting. He's an award-winning film industry veteran, bestselling author of Writing FAST: How to Write Anything with Lightning Speed and creator of FAST Screenplay, the world's most comprehensive and step-by-step screenwriting system. He began as a child actor, appearing in such films as Don't Tell Mom the Babysitter's Dead and Columbo, before finding his greater passion behind the camera.

Pinky McKay at TEDxDocklands 2015Pinky McKay is a lactation consultant (IBCLC) and author of four titles, including Parenting by Heart. She specialises in gentle parenting styles that honour mothers' natural instincts to respond to their babies. She's been a guest and keynote speaker at seminars for health professionals and parents across Australia, New Zealand and the United States. In a world where common sense isn't so common, her 'get real' and no-nonsense approach, combined with humour, wit and wisdom, makes her a regular source for national publications and major TV networks.

We-Li Wong at TEDxDocklands 2015Wei-Li Wong found her mighty purpose when she took a stand to end world hunger by supporting The Hunger Project. She grew up in Malaysia where she started her career in corporate communications in Kuala Lumpur. She spent a few years managing logistics for a petroleum project in Khartoum, Sudan, but now calls Melbourne home. She creates expressive and personal awareness and fundraising projects to aid her cause of ending hunger. Wei-Li also heads Diversity@Work raising the social inclusion agenda bringing industry and the disengaged together.

Zara Swindells-Grose at TEDxDocklands 2015Zara Swindells-Grose believes that there is power in humour and it can improve health, happiness and the bottom line. She's director at Humour Australia (or HA!), which provides a variety of communication and engagement programs with clients including Cadbury, Coca-Cola, Microsoft and IBM. She's an expert in helping people to lighten up and is a member of the International Positive Psychology Association. Zara's an actor, writer, MC, creator of children's animation series ZuZu & the SuperNuffs, has worked in breakfast radio and as a professional speaker coach.

Melissa Weinberg at TEDxDocklands 2015Dr Melissa Weinberg aims to translate complex ideas into more simple and practical applied strategies that facilitate wellbeing, self-awareness and social change. She's the principal research fellow of the Australian Unity Wellbeing Index, a project that has tracked the subjective wellbeing of Australians since 2001. She completed her PhD in psychology at Deakin University in 2011 and is also a provisional psychologist. She believes in the power of psycho-education to engender understanding, empower others and effect change.

Rich Hungerford at TEDxDocklands 2015Rich is a survival and bushcraft instructor with twenty years of survival and tracking training and experience. He's spent time with military units, been involved with non-military survival instructors and undertaken regular volunteer work in wildlife conservation. His fascination for living off the land developed having grown up in rural places, especially Papua New Guinea. He explores his adoration of the natural environment through Bush Lore, a holistic method drawing past knowledge and lessons into the present.
